The United Arab Emirates, which are made up of seven countries within one enormous country, have become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world in recent decades. Its popularity has only increased as cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi have evolved, adding massive glass skyscrapers, spectacular hotels, shopping malls, beach resorts, and a variety of attractions for couples, families, and individuals. When you consider the year-round sunlight, breathtaking scenery, and kind people, it's simple to see why travelers return year after year. However, each Emirate has a distinct offering to investigate.

Currency

The currency used throughout the UAE is the United Arab Emirates dirham (AED)

Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates. It is the most populous of all the Emirates, with the second-largest population. While it is a historically significant region of the Middle East, it only became well-known with the discovery of oil in 1958.

Abu Dhabi is located on the shore at the northern end of the Emirate and has developed into a contemporary metropolis with large glass buildings, resorts, culture, business, and sport. It hosts the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, has a modern airport, and many attractions, and is only second to Dubai in terms of prominence.

Dubai

Dubai is the most populous and well-known of the Emirates, with a population of slightly over 4 million people, nearly all of whom are expatriates. Many foreigners opt to live and work in Dubai because of its expanding popularity as a center of commerce, culture, education, tourism, and construction, as well as its low taxes.

Dubai is one of the world's great vacation destinations, with the world's tallest building, one of the world's busiest airports, some of the world's best hotels and restaurants, one of the world's largest shopping malls, and many other attractions. Its infrastructure has substantially improved, making getting around and enjoying your stay easier than before.

Fujairah

Fujairah is the easternmost of the Emirates, situated on the Gulf of Oman. It is one of the least popular tourist destinations, with less attractions. Visitors, on the other hand, will like what it has to offer, which includes untamed scenery and an increasing number of luxury resorts. Fujairah, seen as an up-and-coming Emirate, is expanding its business and infrastructure in order to attract more visitors.

Sharjah

Sharjah is a historic component of the UAE, seen as essentially an extension of Dubai, its nearest neighbor. Originally a fishing harbor and a stop on the United Kingdom's Empire air routes, it has evolved into a modern metropolis that pays homage to its past. Tourism is increasing, and new projects such as the Al Qasba canal and Ferris wheel, as well as the restored Al Majaz Waterfront, are attracting more people. Sharjah has a lot of fantastic hotels and resorts, as well as a lot of cultural and family tourism attractions, such as 16 museums.

Umm Al Quwain

Umm Al Quwain is the smallest of the United Arab Emirates, with a population of less than 78,000 people. It is located north of Sharjah on the Persian Gulf coast. Umm Al Quwain's legacy includes a fort erected in 1768 and a history as a trading post, and the petroleum sector is now a significant element of its economy. The fort and other historic landmarks, as well as the Dreamland Aqua Park and offshore islands with deep forests, are among the city's primary tourist attractions.

Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah is home to the UAE's highest peak, Jabal Jais, and is one of the UAE's oldest areas in terms of human settlement. This is its biggest tourist attraction, but the National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah, which is housed in an old palace, as well as its historic forts and magnificent sand dunes, are also worth seeing. RAK City, often known as RAK, is the primary center of population and features a historic old town, as well as resorts and hotels.

Ajman

Ajman, the smallest Emirate in terms of land, is located north of Sharjah and has a port on the Persian Gulf. It has few tourist attractions, but several old forts have been renovated, with some serving as museums. The Ajman China Mall is a renowned shopping destination for Chinese items such as electronics and clothes.

Where to stay in the United Arab Emirates

While the United Arab Emirates is not a large country with good road connections, you should choose a hotel based on the sites you plan to visit.

Dubai is the most populous and well-known of the Emirates, with the most things to see and do. The Burj Khalifa skyscraper, the Dubai Mall, traditional souks, beach and watersports, and family activities are among the city's most well-known attractions.

The Emirati city of Abu Dhabi is the second largest in the country. It is a popular destination for combining culture and relaxation, with excellent hotels and resorts, beaches, shopping, museums, and sporting events such as the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, which is considerably calmer than its neighbors and has a more unspoiled, traditional feel, has plenty of creature pleasures like shopping, fantastic hotels and restaurants, and amazing beaches, but it is much quieter than its neighbors, with a more unspoiled, traditional feel.

Accommodation in the United Arab Emirates.

When it comes to lodging, the United Arab Emirates is famed for its grandeur and opulence. Here, particularly in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and the beach resorts along the coast, are some of the world's best and most unusual hotels.

The Burj Al Arab, which rises magnificently like a ship's sail off the shore of Dubai, is one of the world's most famous hotels. It has 202 suites, a 590ft tall atrium, and six restaurants, and is considered one of the world's most luxury hotels.

The Palm, a man-made island off the coast of Dubai, is home to some of the city's most luxurious hotels. Atlantis the Palm is one of them. Its chambers are luxurious, with turreted Arabian architecture and a central arch, and some even have underwater windows to view sea life float by! It boasts its own Aquaventure Waterpark and aquarium for families.

The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai and the Rose Rayahan are two of the world's tallest hotels, respectively.

The Taj, located in Dubai's business sector, is a hotel that celebrates heritage while blending it with modern elegance. Views of the Burj Khalifa, pillow menus, and over 3,000 Indian sculptures can be found in the rooms. In the evening, visit the Treehouse bar for a cocktail.

In Abu Dhabi, the Emirates Palace is a five-star luxury hotel. It combines exquisite beaches and a marina with outstanding service, as well as rooms with own balconies or gardens with city and ocean views.

The Park Hyatt Hotel & Villas is another luxurious option in Abu Dhabi. It has exquisite rooms with balconies and is only a short walk from the private beach. The on-site marine biologist assists in the conservation of the dune habitat and provides children's activities.

The Qasr Al Sarab in Abu Dhabi's Liwa Desert is a long way from the UAE's major towns. Villas with private pools, desert views, and contemporary elegance make it an oasis in every sense of the term.

Two Banyan Tree resorts may be found in Ras Al Khaimah. One, on the beach, is designed to look like a Bedouin fishing hamlet, complete with a spa, pools, water sports, and romantic accommodations. Meanwhile, the Al Wadi resort is a desert oasis complete with private villas and pools, making it an ideal honeymoon destination.

In the smaller Emirate of Ajman, the Oberoi Beach Resort Al Zorah offers 5-star luxury. It offers a private beach, as well as pools, baths, two restaurants, and the opportunity to observe migratory birds in the nearby mangrove area.

Places to visit

Dubai is the most popular tourist destination in the UAE. What was once a sleepy pearl fishing village is now a bustling metropolis with high-rise buildings and plenty to see and do. It is divided into several districts, ranging from the traditional Bastakia neighborhood and old town, where the souks are located, to the business center and Jumeirah Beaches. In Dubai, you may see the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest structure, go shopping, skydive, participate in water sports, and stay in one of the city's luxurious hotels.

In the UAE, there are many natural regions to explore once you get out from the city. The Hajar Mountains are a nature lover's dream, featuring popular activities such as bird and wildlife watching, hiking, and off-roading.

Ras Al Khaimah's mountains, such as Jebel Jais, with its zipline and breathtaking vistas, are also popular. Or simply relax on the quieter beaches of this northern Emirate, which hasn't yet attracted the same crowds as Dubai.

The capital city, Abu Dhabi, is a contemporary metropolis with attractive sights, architecture, shopping, beaches, and luxury hotels. The deserts, with panoramic views of sand dunes, quaint villages, and the peak of Jebel Hafeet, are popular day trips from Abu Dhabi.

Sharjah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain are fewer frequented Emirates that should not be neglected, especially for learning about the region's history and legacy. In each of these regions, historical relics like as old forts have been restored, and museums chronicle the country's story. For an ideal holiday, each offers its own resorts, beaches, and other attractions.

Things to do in the United Arab Emirates

Each of the UAE's seven emirates has its own sights and attractions, but there are a few highlights that any first-time tourist to the country should include on their itinerary. Whether it’s a

The Burj Khalifa is at the top of any list for individuals who aren't afraid of heights. It is the world's tallest building, rising 200 floors (2,716 feet) over the desert in Dubai. The magnificent tower has 103,000 square meters of glass on its exterior, and it houses an entire community of offices, hotels, apartments, and restaurants on the interior. On a clear day, the observation decks on levels 124 and 148 provide spectacular views of Dubai and even as far as the Iranian shore! An 11-hectare park surrounds the base of the Burj Khalifa, including pools and fountains that spray water up to 500 feet in a synchronized dance to music.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, one of the world's largest, is one of Abu Dhabi's most popular attractions. It boasts the world's largest carpet (weighing 35 tons) and is a prominent center of Islamic culture, history, and study. It can hold up to 40,000 worshippers. It is open every day from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and guided tours are offered. Women should wear modest clothing.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi, a branch of the Paris museum in the Middle East, is also worth a visit. It is the largest museum in the Arabian Peninsula, with pieces of art and historical artifacts from all over the world.

The highest point in the UAE is Jebel Jais. It is located in Ras Al Khaimah and offers spectacular views from its over 2,000m summit. The trip to the summit is picturesque, with plenty of opportunities to stop and take in the landscape. While there, many people enjoy hiking, cycling, and the world's longest zipline.

Al Montazah Parks in Sharjah is a fantastic family entertainment park. It spans 126,000 square meters and features both typical carnival rides and an outdoor water park.

The Dubai Mall is one of the region's most popular attractions, and it's well worth a visit even if you only have a short time. It is the world's largest shopping mall in terms of square footage, with over 1,200 stores, many of which are high-end boutiques excellent for finding something unique. The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, the VR Park amusement park, the KidZania kids’ zone, a Rainforest Café, and theatres are all available while you're there.

If all of this sophistication becomes too much for you, go shopping in the old souks of Dubai's Deira neighborhood. Everything from spices to traditional things that make excellent souvenirs may be found here for a reasonable price.

A desert safari is a must-do if you want to see the sandy landscapes that are so close to the urban regions. These tours are offered by a variety of groups, including tours in jeeps and on camels, for example.

A pleasant visit in the UAE must include time spent in the sun and by the sea. Beaches may be found along the entire coast, and most large hotels have pools and sunbathing spaces. Ajman has some of the nicest beaches. There are numerous hotels around this beach, which is quieter and cleaner.

There are numerous golf courses to choose from in the United Arab Emirates. The Arabian Ranches Golf Club is one of the best, with its rocky landscape and excellent green fairways.

Food in the United Arab Emirates.

The cuisine of the United Arab Emirates is diverse and tasty, influenced by its Arabian history. Because of its coastal setting, seafood is high on the menu and quite popular. Meat and rice are also widely available, with lamb and beef being the most popular. Dates are extremely popular in the UAE, where they are customarily served with meals or as a pleasant snack.

Pork is rarely served in the UAE, although substitutes are typically available (for example in hotel breakfast offerings). Licensed hotels, taverns, nightclubs, and golf clubs are also the only places where you can get a drink.

Whatever your culinary preferences, the UAE (particularly in more touristed places such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi) has a wide range of restaurants serving everything from fine dining to informal fare.

Meylas is one of the greatest hotels in Abu Dhabi, delivering Middle Eastern and Emirati favorites that are both accessible and attractive. Another option is BBQ Al Qasr, which grills its meals to perfection in a lovely al fresco setting adjacent to the water, as the name suggests. It has excellent seafood.

Nathan Outlaw, in Al Mahara, is a fantastic seafood restaurant in Dubai. Unique Michelin-starred chef brings his delectable cuisine to this aquarium locale, which includes outdoor dining. Meanwhile, in a waterside position with fantastic views of the Burj Al Arab, Zheng He's combines Western and Chinese dishes.

Food is also a highlight in the other Emirates. The Sharjah Dhow Boat, a traditional boat stationed near the Sharjah Corniche, is a fascinating and distinctive location. It provides classic Middle Eastern meals and includes private tables or outside eating.

The Waldorf Astoria in Ras Al Khaimah has two superb restaurants: the Lexington Grill, which provides some of the best steaks in the UAE, and Umi, which offers an authentic Japanese dining experience with stunning views of the Arabian Gulf.

Getting about the United Arab Emirates.

Dubai International is one of the busiest airports in the world, with links to destinations all over the world thanks to its own airline, Emirates. With three terminals, the airport is a contemporary hub. It has excellent road and rail connections, including the Dubai Metro and RTA buses.

A new airport in Al Maktoum, 23 miles from the capital, is quietly rising and will soon take over as the major hub. There are currently some airline flights operating there.

Etihad Airways is based in Abu Dhabi, which has a large hub airport. It has a road connection to the city and will ultimately be connected to the Abu Dhabi Metro. Sharjah, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah all have airports.

It's simple to get about the UAE's major cities and tourist attractions. Both Dubai and Abu Dhabi have metro rail systems with stops in all main business and tourist areas, and both cities have extensive bus networks. The Dubai Metro is a fully automated system that runs both underground and above ground. Before traveling, you must purchase a ticket or use a Nol card with credit.

Taxis are frequently the quickest option to go where you need to go. Local firms and Uber are both widespread, and you can utilize them for longer distance transport between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, for example.

When is the best time to visit the United Arab Emirates?

Because of the UAE's location, it can get extremely hot and humid during the summer months, making it difficult to go outside at all. It is therefore preferable to travel between September and May, when the weather is cooler. Even the months of December and January are nice, with bright sunshine and little humidity. As a result, the UAE's winter months are its busiest tourism season, with increased hotel occupancy and pricing. Spring and Autumn/Fall are the greatest seasons for a beach vacation.

Language and culture

The United Arab Emirates is a worldwide meeting point for various ethnicities and cultures today, but it is also a traditional and historic place with hundreds of years of civilization at its roots.

Arabic is the most widely spoken language in the UAE. However, English is virtually universally understood, particularly in major cities, hotels, tourist attractions, and tourist districts.

The country is strongly religious, and its culture is based on Islam. You should be respectful of this and act in a way that does not offend the religion's regulations or customs. The country and its people, on the other hand, are inherently warm and kind, and foreigners should not feel restricted when visiting. While respect and decency should be displayed when out in public, most venues allow you to dress as you would at home.

Visitors to the UAE can purchase alcohol, contrary to popular belief, but only from licensed establishments such as bars, hotels, restaurants, and nightclubs. Alcohol is not consumed by the local populace, therefore don't expect your business to serve it.
