Chennai Airport

Chennai International Airport (IATA: MAA, ICAO: VOMM) is an international airport in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, that serves the city and its surrounding area. It’s in Tirusulam, about 21 kilometers (13 miles) from the city center. The sixth busiest airport in India is Chennai International Airport.  It was also Asia’s 49th busiest airport in 2018, making it one of India’s four major airports to make the top 50 list.  The airport had 5.49 million passengers in fiscal year 2021.

The airport is served by the Chennai Metro’s airport metro station and the Chennai Suburban Railway’s Tirusulam railway station. Two new terminals, T2 and one satellite terminal, are being built to handle 40 million people per year in order to cope with the increased passenger demand.

It will be India’s first airport to feature a satellite terminal once it is built. A four-way underground auto walk will connect the new satellite terminal to the other terminals, allowing passengers to travel between them. Nonetheless, with a peak capacity of 40 million people, the Tirusulam airport complex is predicted to approach saturation by 2035, and a plan for a new greenfield airport near Chennai has been in the works for decades. Both airports will be operational after the second airport is completed.

Chennai Airport Facilities

Chennai International Airport offers everything arriving and departing passengers may require, including efficient check-in and immigration facilities, tourism information and services, fabulous shopping and dining options, superb lounges and accommodations, as well as extensive meeting and conference facilities.
