About Indigo Airlines
d/b/a InterGlobe Aviation Ltd IndiGo is a low-cost Indian airline based in Gurgaon, Haryana, India. With a 53.5 percent domestic market share as of October 2021, it is India’s largest airline in terms of passengers carried and fleet capacity. It is also the largest individual Asian low-cost carrier in terms of jet fleet size and passengers transported, as well as Asia’s sixth largest carrier, with over 6.4 crore (64 million) passengers carried in fiscal year 2018–19. As of 2019, the airline flew 1,500 passengers each day to 95 destinations, 71 domestic and 24 international. Its principal hub is Delhi’s IGI Airport.
In 2006, InterGlobe Enterprises’ Rahul Bhatia and Rakesh Gangwal started the airline as a private corporation. It received its first aircraft in July 2006 and began operations the following month. In 2012, the airline overtook Jet Airways as the largest Indian carrier by passenger market share. In November 2015, the company went public.
