Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, we are heading towards the Ararat Regionlocated near the border with Turkeymagical for its beautiful landscape dominated by the snow-capped Mount Ararat. In the Ararat region, the first stop is Khor Virap Complex, one of the holy places for all Armenians, the place of the origin of Christian Armenia. The monastery took its name from a natural cave, the deep pit in which St. Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned by King Tiridates at the end of the 3rd century. Gregory stayed in the pit for 13 years and was fed by a widow. He was released from the pit to cure King Tiridates, who had lost his human appearance and consciousness after ordering massacres of Christian nuns, as a result of which he turned into a boar. Here is also the closest and most spectacular view of the gorgeous biblical Mountain Ararat, upon which Noah’s Ark landed after the flood. In the Ararart Plain, you can also taste the sweet and incomparable fruit because the place is also known for its fertile soil and favorable climate, which make it an ideal location for growing a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Some of the most commonly grown crops in the region include grapes, apricots, peaches, apples, pears, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, and various types of melons. The produce from this area is often exported to other parts of Armenia and abroad, contributing to the country's economy. After Khor Virap we return to Yerevan and continue our discovery with walk in the Vernissage, the arts and crafts market where you can not only admire the works of different craftsmen, including stone and wooden crosses, handmade cloth dolls, ceramic plates and glasses and other local handicrafts, but also attend the display of silver and gold jewels, Armenian rugs, embroidery, books, paintings of Armenian painters. The rest of the day, you can spend exploring the city at your leisure. You can visit museums, enjoy shopping, or try local cuisine. Overnight in Yerevan.
