Malaysia Visa FAQs

  • add Is a visa needed to visit Malaysia?

Yes. To travel to Malaysia, you need to obtain a visa in advance. You can either apply for the visa at the Malaysian Embassy or Consulate using the Visa application centres in your country, or you can obtain the visa electronically (online) with an entry or e-Visa.

  • add What distinguishes the Malaysian E-Visa from the eNTRI?

You are permitted a 15-day stay in Malaysia using the Malaysian eNTRI (Electronic Travel Registration & Information) visa. A single-entry visa, the eNTRI must be used within three months of the day it was issued. You can only use this visa to enter Malaysia from India, Singapore, or Thailand.

You are only permitted to stay in Malaysia for a total of 30 days using the Malaysia e-Visa. The multiple-entry e-Visa must be utilised within three months after the date it was issued. There are no limitations on entry or exit, therefore anyone from any country can enter or leave Malaysia.

  • add Do I need a visa to enter Malaysia from India?

Yes. Prior to travelling to Malaysia, you must apply for and receive a visa.

  • add What is the cost of a Malaysian?

For all Malaysian visas issued to residents of UAE, there is a charge. It's also vital to remember that the processing fee for Malaysian visas is not refundable.

  • add Do UAE nationals need a visa to enter Malaysia?

For citizens of the UAE or the GCC, there is no option to obtain a visa for Malaysia upon arrival. Before visiting Malaysia, citizens of the United Arab Emirates must get a visa for the nation.

Only citizens of select nations, mainly Singapore and Thailand, who are travelling to Malaysia on business are eligible for a Malaysia visa on arrival. The immigration officer in Malaysia, however, has the final say in whether to award a visa on arrival. To minimise last-minute complications, it is generally preferable to obtain a Malaysian visa before departure.

  • add How can I get Malaysia Visa?

Short-term travellers can easily apply for a Malaysian visa online using an eNTRI or e-Visa system, and the Malaysian visas will be sent to them by email. For longer trips, you must use the Visa application centres at the Malaysian Embassy or Consulate.

  • add What are the requirements for a tourist visa to Malaysia?

The conditions for the online Malaysia tourist visa are as follows:

    • Passport scan in colour
    • Return flight confirmation ticket
    • proof of accommodations

  • add A Malaysia eVISA: What is it?

The Malaysian government provides travellers from qualified nations who are visiting the nation for tourism with an online travel permission known as the Malaysia eVISA. The Malaysia Immigration Service formally unveiled the eVISA for Malaysia in January 2016.

  • add What is the duration of my Malaysia eVISA's validity?

A person with a valid 3-month Malaysia eVISA is allowed to stay in Malaysia for a total of 30 days during each visit. There is a single usage limit for each application, and extensions are not permitted.

  • add How long does it take for a Malaysia eVisa to be processed?

Once the application is finished and all required supporting documents are submitted, the typical processing time for a Malaysian visa is 3 to 4 business days. However, take notice that processing occasionally may take up to 5–7 business days.

  • add What do I need to do after I have my Malaysia eVISA?

Once your application is accepted, you will receive an email with your Malaysia eVISA. Print one (1) A4-sized copy of the authorised eVISA in either colour or black & white. Ensure that the printed material is readable and clear. Please remember that you must provide your printed copy of your Malaysian visa at the entry checkpoints in Malaysia.

Malaysia Travel Guide

Knowing Malaysia is loving Malaysia Malays, Indians, Chinese, and many other ethnic groups coexist peacefully and in harmony in this vibrant melting pot of races and religions. Read more

Malaysia is now home to hundreds of vibrant festivals because to multiculturalism, which has also transformed Malaysia into a culinary paradise. Malaysia's geography is as varied as its culture. The nation is divided into two parts: two states on the northern portion of Borneo and 11 states on the Malaysian peninsula. The hills, which descend to warm, sandy beaches and lush, damp mangroves, offer cool retreats.

Malaysia's stark differences are one of its main draws. Five-star Malaysia hotels are positioned a good distance from old reefs, while towering skyscrapers stare down on wooden homes on stilts. Malaysia is the ideal destination for a trip full of surprises, diverse cultures, and breathtaking natural beauty.

Malaysia as a nation is simply characterised as a hub of cultural fusion, where the finest of the globe converges to forge the ideal travel destination for everyone. From the oldest rainforest in the world to the highest sky bridge; from a stunning island to some mysterious caves, Malaysia is undoubtedly an interesting place to be, as evidenced by the fact that it is becoming more and more popular as a travel destination. Southeast Asia's Malaysia is situated between Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia. The vast island of Borneo is shared by Brunei, Indonesia, and it borders the Philippines in the north. Malaysia has seen a steady increase in tourist popularity over the past few years. This is partly because of good publicity (from the government and websites like this one), but it's also because it's getting more and more economical to fly to other parts of the world. Malaysia is the ideal destination for all kinds of travellers. Backpackers, groups, couples, and families with young children all enjoy visiting there. In Malaysia, new attractions are occasionally found and those that already exist are frequently updated or restored.

Comparing Malaysia to its neighbours, lodging is frequently relatively inexpensive; even though costs have increased recently, accommodations are still reasonably priced.

Places to visit in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, is home to some of the country's most popular tourist destinations. Monkeys swinging from trees, roller coasters in malls, and the Petronas Twin Towers, which is by far the most popular attraction, may all be found there. The previously mentioned highest sky bridge in the world is situated between these enormous identical structures. From the bridge that connects the two towers, the view is just breathtaking. Read more

The twin towers continue to be the highest structures in the world despite having held the title for a full 6 years, from 1998 to 2004. Here's an amazing fact: one skyscraper was constructed by a Japanese company, and the other by a Korean company. It became an amazing race to the finish line as the towers were being built. Samsung Engineering and Construction, a Korean business, won the competition by building the spire covertly inside the tower and mounting it on the East tower early one morning in 1996. The street cuisine in Malaysia is another thing for which it is well-known. Malaysian street cuisine is unmatched in flavour and variety, and its reputation exceeds its actual excellence. The street sellers offer a fantastic selection of Chinese, Indian, Thai, and native Malaysian cuisine. The unsung heroes of the Malaysian food industry are without a doubt the street hawkers, who will feed and fill your stomach with delectable food for a few ringgits. Many people consider Penang to offer the best cuisine on the South Asian peninsula.

Malaysia is a country with a diverse population and a rich cultural heritage. Because of this, its tourism is quite diverse and offers attractions that suit a variety of tastes.

Other Malaysia Visa types

We currently only process Tourist and Business Visas. Kindly contact the Embassy for the following visa applications.

1. Single Entry Malaysia Visa:

The Single-Entry Malaysia Visa online is the most popular type of Malaysia Visa for Indians issued to casual travelers who visit the country for vacations, or for social visits. These types of Malaysia Visas are valid for 3 months from the date of issue and are provided to foreign nationals who want to visit Malaysia for a temporary visit.

2. Multiple Entry Malaysia Visa:

This is the type of Malaysia Visa that is required for people who have frequent business in Malaysia and need to visit the country multiple times in the same year. One can get this type of Malaysia Visa issued for a validity of a minimum of 3 months, and maximum of 12 months from the date of issue. Each entry in that issues time can only last as long as 30 days. Extension of stay is not allowed.

3. Transit Malaysia Visa:

This is the type of Malaysia Visa that is issued to foreign nationals who are passing through the country to transit to other countries, for example when you have a connecting flight in Malaysia for some other country. This however, is only required when the foreign national needs to exit the premises of the airport. A transit Malaysia Visa is not required for people who are not going to leave the airport premises and those who are travelling to the next destination from the same flight.

4. Transit without Visa (TWOV)

A TVOW is only applicable to foreign nationals after clearing Malaysian immigration, for a maximum of 120 hour stop in Malaysia. TWOV is a little tricky to avail. Even if the applicant meets all the criteria, it’s still on the prudence of the Malaysian Immigration.
