The Schengen Visa is a short stay visa and takes the form of a sticker affixed to your passport. The definition of “short stay” is a stay of "90 days in any 180 days period". This means that the total duration of stay is of maximum 90 days in any period of 180 days. The precise length of validity of your Schengen Visa is indicated on the visa sticker under the heading “Duration of visit”. With a single-entry visa you can enter the Schengen area only once. This is indicated on the visa sticker under the heading "Number of entries" by "1". A two-entry or a multiple-entry visa allows for two or several entries during the validity of the Schengen Visa. This is indicated on the visa sticker by "02" or "MULT" under the heading "Number of entries".

It is therefore recommended that you carry with you copies of the documents which you presented when applying for the Schengen visa (e.g. letters of invitation, travel confirmations, other documents stating the purpose of your stay).

As from 2nd November 2015 following the introduction of the Visa Information System (VIS), all Schengen visa applicants in India have to appear in person in order to provide biometric data (fingerprints and digital photography). The photograph can be digitally taken at the time of the application or scanned from an existing one. For subsequent applications within the 5 years the fingerprints can be copied from the previous application file in the VIS. In case of reasonable doubt regarding the identity of the applicant, the consulate will again collect fingerprints within the 5 year period specified above. Furthermore, the applicant may request that they be collected if, at the time when the application is lodged, it cannot be immediately confirmed that the fingerprints were collected within this 5 years period.

7. Lake Balaton – A sojourn into nature with lakes and forests

which visitors can cycle on! The lake is surrounded by resort towns and has beautiful forests

8. Aggtelek – A walk through mysterious caves
Aggtelek is a village that is the gateway to the popular UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aggtelek and Slovak Karst. Especially the cavern ‘Giant’s Hall’ is spectacular and a treat for nature lovers.
9. Lillafured – A hike up to the mountains
The Bukk Mountains are one of the most beautiful places to visit in Hungary. Lillafured is the perfect
place as a base to visit the Bukk National Park. The park has more than 1,000 caves, beautiful
freshwater lakes, and thick woods ideal for hiking. The Lillafured waterfall is also the highest
waterfall in Hungary.

10. Sopron – Wander in an ancient city with a colourful history
Sopron has witnessed history through the ages and one of the most historic places to visit in Hungary

1. Short term visa – marking of visa: “C”
Entitling the holder for single, double or multiple entry within six months and in case of an uninterrupted stay for a a stay of maximum ninety days from the date of entry or in case of an interruption for a stay totaling no more than ninety days within six months from the date of first entry taking all the entries into account.
2. Airport transit visa marking of visa: “A”
This type of visa entitles the holder to enter the international zone of the airport and to stay there until the departure of the flight to the state of destination Special requirement: visa of the country of destination or other permit thereof authorizing the stay of the foreigner (if not exempt from the visa requirement) and airplane ticket showing confirmed reservation.
3. Transit visa – marking of visa: “B”
This type of Hungary visa may be single or multiple, entitling its holder to transit through the country in a period not exceeding five days on each occasion Special requirement: visa of the country of destination or other permit authorizing the stay of the foreigner (if not exempt from visa requirement).
4. Residence visa – marking of the visa “D”
Entitling the holder for single or multiple entry and for a stay exceeding ninety days but not exceeding one year for a specified purpose in Hungary without any additional permit.
5. Medical visa
Foreigners planning to travel to Hungary for medical treatment have to present a certificate from the medical institution where the treatment will take place, proof of sufficient funds and accommodation reservations.
