Sri Lanka government introduced a new Electronic Visa called ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) for a short visit to Sri Lanka on 1st January 2012. Travellers intending to visit Sri Lanka must have a valid visa issued by Department of Immigration & Emigration, Colombo, Sri Lanka. A Sri Lanka ETA is a complete online process and the approval for the same will be communicated via email. The ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) replaces the need to apply for a Sri Lanka Visa label or stamp.
There are three types of Sri Lanka Visas (ETA Approvals) like Tourist, Business and Transit depending upon your purpose of travel.
The Sri Lanka ETA is issued online; it is not necessary to submit an original passport or other original documents for processing. Simply upload all your documents online through our secured online document locker and we will process the Sri Lanka ETA and email the approval notification to you.
It is possible to obtain a Sri Lanka Visa upon arrival at the port of entry. However, Travelers are strongly encouraged to get the Sri Lanka Visa in advance to avoid lengthy delays at the airport or other Sri Lanka port of entry. Travelers have complained about long lines to get the Sri Lanka Visa at the airport and also the cost is comparatively higher than applying for a Sri Lanka Visa prior to travel. In addition, please note the airport transaction is conducted in local currency versus USD. We highly recommend travelers to save time and money by applying for your Sri Lanka Visa through us.
The requirements for a Sri Lanka Visa is that you can only apply up to 60 days (2 months) prior to your departure date.
If you wish to visit Sri Lanka for a short stay for any of the following purposes, you must obtain an ETA prior to arrival. An ETA is valid for travel to Sri Lanka for the following purposes:
No, you don’t need to visit the Sri Lanka Visa Application centre personally. We will simplify the visa process for you. Applying for a Sri Lanka Visa through us will be an easy and hassle free process as we will take care of your complete visa process right from getting your documents ready to stamping of your Sri Lanka visa.
In most of cases, your Sri Lanka Visa will be processed within two business days, but sometimes processing time may take longer durations, if the submitted data in the application form is incorrect or inaccurate, or if the applicant has any criminal convictions.
This website is hosted on secure servers and is protected with security socket layers, thus your Data is safe.
Sri Lankan ETA is electronically linked with the passport number, so you don’t need any stamp on your passport.
As long as you do not intend to stay in the country longer than 30 days, you can take part in conventions and conferences as well as meetings whilst in Sri Lanka.
Once the ETA is approved, we recommend that you keep a copy of the Sri Lanka ETA approval notification to carry with your passport. Upon arrival in Sri Lanka, ETA holders should produce the following requirements at the port of entry:
The Sri Lanka Visa is valid for 3 months with a double/multiple entry and you can stay for a maximum period of up to 30 days on each visit.
The ETA will allow a stay of 30 days from the date of entry to Sri Lanka, but it may be extended for up to 90 days by submitting an ETA application at the Head office of the Department of Immigration and Emigration (DI&E) in Sri Lanka.
You are strongly advised to purchase a health / travel insurance to cover yourself in Sri Lanka as medical treatment can be very expensive in Sri Lanka. We can certainly assist you with the travel insurance as it’s an absolute necessity for International travel in the event of unexpected events such as medical emergencies, baggage delay or loss etc.
Since your Sri Lankan ETA Visa is attached to your old passport number, you will need to re-apply for a new Sri Lankan ETA that will get linked to your new passport number. Electronic visas are not transferable between passports.
A multiple entry Sri Lanka Visa for Indians permits you to go to the country multiple times within the term of validity of the Visa. With a double-entry Sri Lanka Visa you can go to the country two times and with a single entry Visa one time.
Yes. We will forward you an email from the government of Sri Lanka with the details of your ETA. Included in this email will be your Travel details, ETA number and Visa validity. We suggest travelers print this confirmation and keep a copy with your passport.
