The one cabin bag rule in India Indigo and Air India Airlines have updated their policies to match this new rule, so you can definitely expect more airlines to incorporate them in the coming weeks. The cabin bag sizes and weight restrictions are:

  • Economy Class Cabin Baggage: 7 kg
  • Business/First Class Cabin Baggage: 10 kg

The size dimensions as per the one cabin bag rule in India economy, business, and first-class must not exceed 55 cm (21.6 inches), 40 cm (15.7 inches), and 20 cm (7.8 inches). This exemption is also applicable to Air India carry-on baggage policies. Previously, the baggage allowance maintained was:

  • Economy Class: 8 kg
  • Premium Economy Class: 10 kg
  • Business and First Classes: 12 kg

If you exceed these weight and size limitations of 115 cm, you must pay an additional fee to check your baggage in, as per the airport baggage rules India. The extra luggage costs differ, depending on your destination and airline choice.

The one cabin bag policy comes with many benefits of its own, some of which include:

Swift check-in and passenger traffic control

With the increase in travel these days, as passengers find online flight booking at low price, there is also a need for an increase in security to ensure the safety of all. The growing crowds also cause a greater increase in wait time, which the new air travel luggage rules hope to combat entirely. Since the lines will move faster, as only one bag will be up for inspection, the wait time will automatically decrease.

Improvement in security

Reducing the number of bags, as per the new luggage rules for flights, will also reduce inspection work for authorities, allowing them to pay greater attention to every passenger’s luggage. This reduces the chances of overlooking any material that could potentially cause harm on the flight.
