Thailand is usually the first Southeast Asia trip for a lot of Indian travellers, and there is a reason it keeps that spot even after two decades of package tourism. It is close, it is affordable, and it packs beaches, temples, islands and genuinely great food into a single trip without much compromise. Whether you are chasing nightlife in Pattaya, quiet water in Krabi, or a first Thai massage in Phuket, the country tends to deliver on whatever kind of holiday you actually came for.

We book everything here from quick 3 night Phuket breaks to full 8 day multi city trips, and honestly, both work well depending on what you are after. First timers tend to do best with one region rather than trying to cover Bangkok, the islands and the north in a single week.

Our Thailand tour packages start at ₹12,390 per person for a 3 night trip, with longer itineraries running up to 8 nights if you want to combine the islands with Bangkok. If you are comparing the wider region, our Bali and Vietnam packages are worth a look too, Thailand tends to be the more affordable and easier first trip of the three, while Bali and Vietnam offer a bit more if you have already done Thailand once before.

    Thailand packages from your city

Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad all have direct flights to Bangkok, which makes Thailand one of the most convenient international trips to book from India.

Thailand packages from Kerala. Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram both connect well through Bangkok or via one of the southern metro hubs, with total journey time usually under 6 hours. Kerala has always been one of our strongest Southeast Asia markets, and Thailand's mix of beaches and affordability makes it an easy first international trip for families. See our full Thailand tour packages from Kerala for city specific pricing and departure dates.

Thailand packages from Chennai. Chennai has a direct flight to Bangkok at just under 3 hours, one of the shortest routes to Southeast Asia from any Indian city. Full details are on our Thailand tour packages from Chennai page.

Thailand packages from Bangalore. Bangalore connects directly to Bangkok in around 4 hours, and this is consistently one of our highest volume routes for both honeymoon and family bookings. Check our Thailand tour packages from Bangalore page for current fares.

Thailand packages from Mumbai. Mumbai has direct flights to Bangkok at around 4.5 hours, and it is a steady route for us year round. Our Thailand tour packages from Mumbai page has the latest itineraries.

Thailand packages from Delhi. Delhi connects directly to Bangkok in around 4.5 to 5 hours, with good frequency throughout the week. See our Thailand tour packages from Delhi page for options.

Thailand packages from Hyderabad. Hyderabad has a direct connection to Bangkok, making it one of the more convenient southern routes on this list. Full pricing is on our Thailand tour packages from Hyderabad page.

Thailand packages from Pune. Pune usually connects through Mumbai before the onward leg to Bangkok. Details are on our Thailand tour packages from Pune page.

Thailand packages from Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad connects through Mumbai for most of the year, with the overall journey still manageable in a day. We keep fares updated on our Thailand tour packages from Ahmedabad page.

Thailand packages from Kolkata. Kolkata connects well to Bangkok given the shorter overall distance from eastern India, usually under 3 hours flying time. See our Thailand tour packages from Kolkata page for details.

Thailand packages from Kochi. As one of Kerala's main gateways, Kochi offers solid connectivity to Bangkok, and it is worth comparing against flying out of Thiruvananthapuram depending on your travel dates. Check our Thailand tour packages from Kochi page for the latest fares.

    Where to go in Thailand

Bangkok is where most trips start, and the mix of the Grand Palace, Wat Arun and a proper street food crawl through the Old Town is hard to beat for a first day. The Chao Phraya river cruise is worth building in too, it is a genuinely relaxing way to see the city from the water.

Phuket is Thailand's biggest island and the easiest first choice for a beach trip, with Patong for nightlife, Kata and Karon for quieter beaches, and Phuket Old Town if you want a break from the sand for an afternoon.

Krabi trades Phuket's crowds for limestone cliffs and quieter water. Railay Beach and Phra Nang are both worth the boat ride, and island hopping to Poda and Chicken Island is one of the better half day trips in the country.

Phi Phi Island and Maya Bay are usually done as a day trip from Phuket or Krabi rather than a separate stay, and the water here is some of the clearest in Thailand.

Pattaya is closer to Bangkok than any of the southern islands, which makes it a good add on for a shorter trip. It leans more towards nightlife and family attractions like Safari World than quiet beaches.

Chiang Mai, in the north, is a different side of Thailand entirely, home to over 300 temples, a proper night bazaar, and hill tribe villages if you want to get further off the usual tourist route.

Koh Samui and Hua Hin are both worth considering if Phuket and Krabi feel too crowded. Koh Samui has a slower island pace, while Hua Hin is a quieter beach town popular with families and closer to Bangkok than the southern islands.

    Sample Thailand itineraries

3 to 4 nights. One region only, usually Phuket or Pattaya, and a good option if you just want a straightforward beach break. Our Amazing Phuket package covers this well.

5 to 6 nights. Two destinations, commonly Phuket and Krabi together for the islands, or Bangkok and Chiang Mai if you would rather split time between the city and the north. Our Spectacular Phuket and Krabi package is built around the island combination.

7 nights or longer. This is where you can properly combine the islands with Bangkok, Phuket or Krabi for the beach days, Pattaya or Bangkok for the city, all in one trip. Our Thailand Getaway package covers Krabi, Phuket, Pattaya and Bangkok across 8 days.

    Things to do

    • Island hopping around Phuket or Krabi, usually covering Phi Phi, Poda and Chicken Island in one day
    • A Thai massage, genuinely one of the better ones you will get outside a spa back home
    • The Grand Palace and Wat Arun in Bangkok, best visited early before the heat and the crowds build up
    • A Chao Phraya river cruise, a relaxed way to see Bangkok from the water in the evening
    • Elephant Jungle Sanctuary in Phuket, an ethical alternative to elephant riding if you want to see them up close
    • The Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, better for browsing and street food than serious shopping
    • Snorkelling around Maya Bay, the beach made famous by The Beach, best visited early morning before the day trip crowds arrive
    • A visit to Safari World and Marine Park, a solid full day option if you are travelling with kids

    Food and what to eat

Thai food is reason enough to visit on its own, and street food here is not a downgrade from a restaurant, it is often the better meal. Pad thai and mango sticky rice are the two dishes most first timers try, but do not stop there, papaya salad, massaman curry and banana roti are all worth seeking out too. Bangkok is the country's street food capital, though you will find good stalls, carts and markets in every city on this list. If you want to go easy on spice, "mai pet" is worth learning before you go, and most restaurants will happily adjust for Indian travellers used to different heat levels. Vegetarian food is easier to find than in some of Thailand's neighbours, and most hotels can arrange vegetarian or Jain meals with a little advance notice.

    Shopping in Thailand

Bangkok's markets are the main draw, Chatuchak Weekend Market for pretty much everything under one roof, and the smaller night markets for souvenirs and clothing at better prices than the malls. Chiang Mai's Night Bazaar is worth a couple of hours for handicrafts and local textiles. In Phuket and Krabi, shopping tends to be more about beachwear and souvenirs than serious buying, so save the bigger purchases for Bangkok if you are combining destinations.

    Best time to visit Thailand

November to April is Thailand's cool, dry season and the best overall window for beaches and sightseeing, though it is also the busiest and most expensive stretch, especially around December and January. May to October brings more rain, but showers tend to be short, and you will find noticeably cheaper flights and hotel rates if you can work around the odd wet afternoon. If Chiang Mai is on your list specifically, avoid mid February to early April, when seasonal crop burning affects air quality in the north.

Good to know before you go

Visa. Indian passport holders currently get 30 day visa free entry to Thailand for tourism. You will need a passport valid for at least 6 months, a return or onward ticket, and to complete Thailand's Digital Arrival Card online before you land. This policy has changed more than once over the past year, so if your travel dates are still some months out, it is worth reconfirming closer to your trip.

Currency. The Thai Baht, THB. ATMs are widely available in Bangkok, Phuket and other major tourist areas, and most merchants accept cards, though it is worth carrying cash for tuk tuks, street food and smaller markets.

Language. Thai is the official language. English is common in tourist areas and hotels, less so once you are away from the main circuit.

Getting around. Domestic flights are the most practical way to cover longer distances, for example between Bangkok and the southern islands. Ferries connect the islands to each other, and tuk tuks or minibuses work well for shorter trips within a city.

A little local etiquette. Cover your shoulders and knees when visiting temples, and it is common to leave a small tip after a massage or a meal at a nicer restaurant, even though tipping is not strictly customary elsewhere.

    FAQs

What is the best time of year to visit Thailand? November to April for the most reliable weather. May to October brings more rain but also lower prices, and Thailand genuinely works as a year round destination either way.

Do Indians need a visa for Thailand? Indian passport holders currently get 30 day visa free entry for tourism. You will need 6 months of passport validity, a return ticket, and to complete the Digital Arrival Card before landing, all of which we can help you prepare as part of your booking.

How many days do I need in Thailand? 4 to 5 nights covers one region comfortably, for example Phuket or Bangkok on its own. If you want to combine the islands with the capital, 7 to 8 nights gives you a more relaxed pace, our Thailand Getaway package is built for that.

Is Thailand good for families? Yes, Phuket and Pattaya both work well with kids thanks to attractions like Safari World and family friendly resorts, and the shorter flight time from India makes it an easier first international trip.

Phuket or Krabi, which is better? They suit different trips. Phuket is more built up, with better nightlife and easier accessibility, while Krabi is quieter, better for scenic nature and beaches, and usually a little easier on the budget.

What is the food like for Indian travellers? Very good, and generally easier on the palate than some of Thailand's neighbours. Most restaurants will adjust spice levels on request, and most hotels can arrange vegetarian or Jain meals with advance notice.

Is Thailand affordable? Yes, it remains one of the most budget friendly international trips from India, comparable to Vietnam and generally cheaper than Bali once you account for flights and daily costs.

Can I combine Thailand with another destination on the same trip? Some of our Singapore itineraries include a Phuket cruise extension, worth a look on our Singapore tour packages page if you would rather combine two destinations than book Thailand on its own.

Thailand is not considered an expensive country and can be enjoyed on a very moderate budget. Of course, you can spend big in Thailand but even those seeking luxury will find the prices in Thailand very agreeable.

What are the food options in Thailand?

Thailand is renowned for its delicious cuisine that incorporates bold flavours and strong aromas to create unique dishes that are distinct to the country and culture. Street food is practically a way of life there. Bangkok is indeed the country's mecca of street food, but there are plenty of stalls, carts, and markets all across Thailand. From noodles to curries, soups to salads, dumplings to spring rolls, and roti to sticky rice, you could spend weeks sampling Thai cuisine. Some of the top street food to eat in Bangkok or elsewhere in Thailand includes pad thai, pad see ew, massaman curry, papaya salad, banana roti, and mango sticky rice.

How is the internet connection in Thailand?

Most hotels offer wireless broadband internet and popular tourist areas also feature internet cafes. We recommend purchasing a local SIM for convenient internet access.

Do I need to purchase Travel Insurance for my Thailand trip?

Travel insurance is always an added benefit. Whether your kind of holiday is found within the secure grounds of your beachside resort or diving deep beneath the waves, small accidents can become catastrophic without insurance. Whether your flight is delayed or cancelled, bag is lost in transit, personal belongings are stolen or you fall ill, travel insurance is worth it for the peace of mind alone.

While Krabi is better for scenic nature views and spots, serene beaches and lower budget experiences, Phuket is better for more luxurious activities, vibrant nightlife, and diverse dining options. Phuket is also known for its ease of accessibility.
