As per the recently released domestic flight baggage capacity policy, the one cabin bag rule, passengers flying from India, regardless of whether domestic or international, must adhere to the same luggage capacity rules. The flight luggage capacity per person by weight from India is:

  • Economy Class: 7 kg
  • Business/First Class: 10 kg

The cabin bag can be a handbag, laptop bag, or any other item, not exceeding luggage capacity in cm dimensions of 50 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm. The baggage must fit snugly under the seat in front of you or in the overhead cabin.

Certain airlines may allow an additional small item under the cabin luggage capacity rules; however, you should visit the official airline website to know more about this rule. Certain airlines also allow additional luggage capacity India if the passenger is flying with an infant.

Most airlines follow a similar domestic luggage capacity, allowing passengers to check in with up to 15 kg baggage allowance. This is the standard economy class flight baggage capacity across most airlines and keeps increasing for other classes. For example, IndiGo baggage capacity for business class flyers is 25 kg, and for First class is 40 kg.

The airport luggage capacity also differs, depending on the fare class. Across India, airlines do not allow check-in baggage to exceed the weight limit of 23 kg for one bag in Economy. Business and First-class flyers are usually allowed to carry bags weighing up to 32 kg per piece.

You can always increase the domestic flight luggage allowance by paying a small fee in India. The size dimensions of every baggage you check in must not exceed 158 cm in total, or you will have to pay an additional luggage allowance fee. The luggage capacity in inches is 62 inches.

These rules also apply to luggage capacity international flights from India. You can now apply for online visa services for 180+ countries without worrying about your luggage being overweight.
