The most important latest visa news for Indian citizens comes from New Zealand. Starting 1 December 2025, only police clearance certificates (PCCs) issued by a Regional Passport Office (RPO) of India’s Ministry of External Affairs will be accepted for visa applications. PCCs from local police stations or district officials will no longer be valid.
The rule applies only to Indian nationals applying for New Zealand visa from within India. Applicants must ensure their PCC is less than six months old at the time of application. This change mainly affects those applying for long-term visitor, student, or work visas.

Applications now face greater scrutiny, especially regarding financial proof and evidence of strong ties to the home country. Proof of funds, usually AUD 5,000-6,000, is required through recent bank statements, deposits, or sponsorship letters. Authorities recommend careful preparation, and many travelers are turning to professional consultants to reduce errors and avoid delays while applying for Australia visa.

Starting September 2025, Laos will introduce the Lao Digital Immigration Form (LDIF), replacing paper arrival and departure cards for foreign travelers. All foreign nationals including Indian passport holders must complete the LDIF online at least three days before travel. This process is separate from applying for a Laos visa online.

Once submitted, travelers receive a QR code valid for three days, which must be shown at border checkpoints once you get down from after arriving on flights to Laos. The pilot phase begins at Wattay International Airport, Luang Prabang International Airport, Pakse International Airport, and the First Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge.

Azerbaijan has announced simplified visa procedures for international visitors attending the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Baku, scheduled for 19-21 September 2025. From 25 August to 30 September 2025, foreign nationals and stateless people can get a visa on arrival at Azerbaijan’s international airports by showing an official F1 ticket, purchase confirmation, or accreditation from Formula One Management, FIA, or Baku City Circuit. If you are traveling to Baku, make sure to book a stay at the best hotels in Baku to enhance your experience while enjoying the race.

Outside the F1 window, travelers can still apply through Azerbaijan visa online, which offers standard visas in three business days or urgent options in a few hours.

Travelers heading to Latvia will soon face new entry rules. From 1 September 2025, most non-EU visitors, including those with Schengen visa issued elsewhere, must complete an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) online at eta.gov.lv at least 48 hours before travel.

The ETA confirmation is a pre-arrival requirement, not a visa, and border officials may still request documents or refuse entry. Exemptions apply to EU, EEA, NATO, OECD countries, Switzerland, Brazil, and certain other groups. Non-compliance could mean denied entry and fines of up to €2,000.
