Adding to this positive score, the Vande Bharat Express announces its big update on the third variant, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train, which is likely to launch in January 2025! It aims to make overnight travel between Delhi and the beautiful city of Srinagar easier, covering 800 km in under 13 hours.
The prototype of the New Delhi to Srinagar Vande Bharat was revealed in September 2024 by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and is being manufactured by BEML. It is still under construction, as per the USBHL project.
On its completion, the responsibility for the train’s smooth operation will fall onto the shoulders of the Northern Railway Zone. If all goes well, the train will extend to Baramulla as well.

The New Delhi to Srinagar Vande Bharat will journey overnight, departing from New Delhi at 7 pm, and is estimated to arrive in Srinagar the next day at 8 am.
Previously, it would take an estimated 20 hours to make a railway trip from the capital to Srinagar. However, with this Vande Bharat Express big update, visitors can quickly get to the city in under 13 hours!
The New Delhi to Srinagar Vande Bharat will stop at many stations along the way, including:
- Ambala Cantt Junction in Haryana
- Ludhiana Junction at Punjab
- Kathu
- Jammu Tawi
- Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra
- Sangaldan
- Banihal.
