A second Saudi Arabian flag carrier called Riyadh Air will be established in the country’s capital, Riyadh. King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh will serve as the airline’s principal operational hub. The airline aspires to have the highest revenue in the Middle East. More than a hundred destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, and North America will be served by its domestic and international scheduled flights. Currently announced aircraft in the fleet include the Airbus A320, Boeing 737, and Boeing 787.
Riyadh Air, the nation’s newest national airline, was publicly unveiled on March 12, 2023, by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. It was revealed two days later that the airline has placed orders for 39 Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with options for a further 33.
It was revealed by Boeing and Riyadh Air that the brand-new Saudi airline has selected the 787 Dreamliner to propel its international debut and help it achieve its objective of running one of the most effective and environmentally friendly fleets in the world.
Controlled by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh Air announced that it will buy 39 of the incredibly economical 787-9s, with options for an additional 33 787-9s. Riyadh Air, which is based in the capital, will be crucial to expanding Saudi Arabia’s air transportation network.
This arrangement is a component of Saudi Arabia’s larger strategic ambition to develop itself into a center for international aviation. The fifth-largest commercial order in Boeing’s history will be made up of up to 121 787 Dreamliners, according to the Saudi Arabian airlines’ announcement today. This will help the nation reach its 2030 objective of serving 330 million passengers and drawing 100 million tourists.
“The new airline embodies the ambitious aim of Saudi Arabia to be at the center of defining the future of international air travel and be a true disrupter in terms of customer experience,” said Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air.
“In order to provide a smooth travel experience, Riyadh Air will integrate digital innovation with traditional Saudi hospitality. Our new 787-9 aircraft will serve as the cornerstone of our global operations as we expand the wider network and connect our passengers to Saudi Arabia and many other destinations around the world by positioning the airline as a global connector and a vehicle to promote tourist and business travel to Saudi Arabia “Doug stated.
Stan Deal, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said: “This is a significant order that will support Riyadh Air’s goal to providing a world-class travel experience, while sustaining American aerospace manufacturing jobs at Boeing and across our supply chain. “We are tremendously proud of our close to eight-decade cooperation, which has helped Saudi Arabia’s aviation industry expand sustainably and innovate. Our agreement builds on that longtime collaboration and will further extend access to safe and sustainable commercial aviation travel for decades more.”
The 787-9 has the 787 family’s longest range, carrying more cargo and carrying 300 passengers over a distance of 7,565 nautical miles (14,010 km). Largest windows of any jet, more humid and pressured air at a lower cabin altitude for greater comfort, roomy overhead bins for everyone’s bags, calming LED lighting, and technology that detects and counteracts turbulence for a smoother trip all contribute to a better experience for passengers.
In comparison to the aircraft they replace, the 787 family offers airline operators around the world exceptional fuel economy, lowering fuel use and emissions by 25%.
Once it’s setup is complete, this new airline will be available for booking at Akbar Travels UAE.
