The different type of visas issued by the Malaysian Government are:
Electronic Travel Registration & Information (eNTRI) is an online registration facility provided by the Malaysian Government. An eNTRI is valid for a single journey into Malaysia and its holder is entitled to stay in Malaysia for a maximum of 15 days. The validity period of the eNTRI note is 3 months from the issued date. It is issued over email and travelers must print out the eNTRI note so that they can show theeNTRI note upon arriving in Malaysia. Only Indian Nationals tourists residing in India are eligible for eNTRI India (Tourist) program.
The eVISA is an electronic travel authorization issued by the Malaysian Government. While the eVISA is equivalent to a visa, no label or stamp is placed in a traveler’s passport. The eVISA is required to enter or travel within Malaysia. An eVISA holder is entitled to stay up to a maximum of 30 days in Malaysia, while the validity is for 3 months. It takes 3-4 working days for total processing of the application. Indians can apply for both single and multiple entry visas. It will be issued over email and the traveler must always carry a print out of the eVisa in Malaysia.
Multiple Entry Sticker Visa
This is issued to foreign nationals who require a longer-term visa to enter Malaysia mainly for business, government-to-government matters or visit family or friends. It is normally valid for a period between three (3) months to twelve (12) months from the date of issue. Each entry is for 30 days only and the extension of stay is not allowed. Multiple entry visa offers you the convenience of departing and returning to Malaysia several times within the period of visa validity. The Malaysia visa will be stamped on your passport.
Conditions for the Multiple Entry Visa are:
- The applicant must show proof of sufficient funds for staying in Malaysia
- The applicant must possess a valid and confirmed return ticket
- Tour groups are not eligible to apply for Multiple Entry Visa.
This is issued to foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia on transit to other countries. Foreign nationals on transit without leaving the airport premises and who continue their journey to the next destination with the same flight do not require a transit visa.
Depending on the type of job and skills, different working passes are issued when obtaining a work permit.
- Employment Pass: This pass is issued to employees with specific skills, usually for technical or managerial jobs. The minimum period is usually 2 years.
- Temporary Employment Pass: Issued for employment for less then 2 years or for jobs with a monthly salary less than RM 5000.
- Professional Visit Pass: Issued to foreign nationals who remain employed by the company in the home country but are required by a Malaysian company to provide certain services for a period up to 6 months.
