If you’ve got international trips on your radar, here’s your quick visa roundup for the week. While H-1B visa news continues to trend globally, this update focuses on other key travel developments. South Korea has extended its visa waiver for many countries, China’s K-Visa is opening new doors for STEM professionals, and India itself is going digital with its arrival process. Here’s a quick breakdown.

China’s New K Visa for STEM Talent

While the H-1B visa process stresses professionals, China’s K-Visa is emerging as a popular alternative. Starting October 1, 2025, China is rolling out a brand-new K visa aimed at young professionals in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This could be a game-changer for Indian talent, as it doesn’t require a job offer or company sponsorship. As long as you’re in a STEM field, whether you’re a graduate student, researcher, or entrepreneur, you’ll be eligible to apply. Plus, the visa allows multiple entries and longer stays.
While age limits and permanent residency (PR) details are still unclear, this pathway is expected to be much more accessible than standard work visas. If you’ve ever considered exploring China for research or innovation, China’s new K-visa could be your opportunity.
Planning to visit China as a tourist instead? Be sure to apply for a regular China visa online. You can also explore all-inclusive China tour packages to avoid the hassle of finding the best hotels in Shanghai or Beijing and planning the perfect itinerary.
South Korea Extends K-ETA Exemption

South Korea has extended its K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) exemption until December 2026. That’s great for travelers from 67 countries, but not for India.
So, what does that mean for Indian travelers? Well, if you’re an Indian passport holder, you still need a regular South Korea visa. The good news for group visa holders, though, is that you won’t need to fill out the new e-Arrival Card, which will be rolled out for most visitors by 2026. Basically, unless you’re in an official tour group, the visa process stays the same for now.
South Korea is also considering a 2026 tourist pass, but nothing confirmed yet. If you’re planning a trip, make sure to grab cheap flights to Seoul soon rather than waiting for the perfect time.

India’s Paper Arrival Form Goes Digital from October 2025

Big change for people who are flying to India. Starting October 1, 2025, India will replace the paper arrival form with a new online e-Arrival Card for all international visitors. Foreign tourists will need to fill in some information before landing in India, including passport details, recent travel history, address during their stay in India, and emergency contacts.
Right now, it’s in beta mode, but starting in October, it will be mandatory. So, tell your international friends, no more last-minute scribbling in-flight! Just complete it online before you travel, and you’ll zip through immigration faster.

Wrapping Up
That wraps up this week’s key visa updates. South Korea’s K-ETA waiver extension is good news for many countries, but Indian travelers will still need to follow the regular visa process. China’s K-visa opens promising doors for young Indian STEM professionals looking to work or study there without the usual red tape. And back home, India’s move to a fully digital e-Arrival Card from October 2025 aims to make entering the country smoother for all visitors.
Keep an eye on these changes as they develop, and always double-check visa requirements before you travel. Safe and happy journeys!
