Virgin Atlantic Baggage Allowance

The baggage allowance is the most important piece of Virgin Atlantic flight information, and you must know it before you begin your booking to ensure it meets your expectations. The weight and quantity of baggage allowed depends on your destination and other factors. Here are a few details to help you plan:

Cabin Baggage

Economy & Premium Class: 1 bag weighing up to 10 kg

Upper Class: 2 bags weighing up to 16 kg in total. One bag must weigh 12 kg.

Infants below 3 years are entitled to a bag of 6 kg, while those above two years can carry the same baggage as adults. A few other items you can bring on board include a laptop bag or handbag small enough to fit under the seat in front of you, an overcoat, a camera or binoculars, headphones, infant food, reading matter for the flight, or a small number of duty-free items. If your baggage exceeds the limitations provided, you can move a few items to your checked baggage or give the bag as check-in luggage.

Check-in Baggage

Economy Class (Classic and Delight): 1 bag weighing up to 23 kg

Premium Class: 2 bags weighing up to 23 kg each

Upper Class: 2 bags weighing up to 32 kg each

Despite the flying class you choose, every bag must maintain the dimensions of 90 cm x 75 cm x 43 cm. Passengers travelling by the Economy Light Class don’t get a complimentary baggage allowance and are required to purchase. If you’re flying with the Economy Class, classic or delight tickets, to or from the UK to Ghana or Nigeria, you’re entitled to carry two bags weighing up to 23 kg each. This extra allowance also applies to passengers flying between the UK, US, or Canada to and from India. Standard Economy class passengers can carry one bag weighing up to 23 kg for free to the above-mentioned destinations. Parents who book a seat for their infants can follow the same allowance adults follow for their children. If the infant will travel on your lap, they’re allowed a complimentary one-bag allowance, except for Economy Light passengers. A car seat or collapsable pushchair is allowed for infants but will remain in the hold.
