The Iran Student Visa (also known as Education Visa or “E” Visa) is granted to foreign nationals, including Indian students accepted into Iranian universities or religious schools. This Iran visa is used for academic purposes such as:

The Iran Student Visa requires a formal invitation and admission approval from the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. Iran Student Visa Requirements & Documents

An Iran Student Visa application from India requires the following:

1. Valid passport with at least 6 months validity
2. Digital passport photo per Iran Visa Photo Specifications
3. Completed Iran visa application online form
4. Grant Notice/Certificate of Eligibility from an Iranian institution 
5. Admission letter from a recognized Iranian university
6. Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs approval
7. Proof of accommodation (university housing or reservation)
8. Return flight booking and details of in-country transport—option to book bus tickets online
9. Enrolment in a valid travel insurance plan
10. Financial statements showing funding for studies and living
11. For minors: notarized parental permission letter (if under 18) 
12. Additional documents as per Iran visa requirements for Indian citizens and the Iran visa document checklist

Iran Student Visa Fees

According to the Indian Embassy in Tehran’s fee schedule (applicable from April 2025), the Iran Student Visa Fees for multiple entry up to 5 years is USD 80, which is approx. INR ₹6,665 (at 1 USD = ₹83.3)

Iran Student Visa Photo Specifications

To meet Iran visa photo specifications, photos should be:

• Colour with a plain white background
• Sized 2×2 inches or 3×4 cm (Iran visa photo size)
• Head and shoulders clearly visible, neutral expression, no glasses
• Recent (within 6 months)
