In the wake of a massive operational collapse that led to thousands of flight cancellations and delays last week. IndiGo has announced additional relief measures for affected travelers. The airline will issue IndiGo’s compensatory travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 to passengers. The passengers who were “severely impacted” between December 3rd and December 5th – 2025, according to an official statement.

This move comes as IndiGo continues to face scrutiny over widespread disruptions caused primarily by crew shortages. The airline confirmed that a significant number of passengers were “stranded for many hours” across major airports during the peak of the crisis.

Additional Vouchers Beyond Mandatory Payouts

IndiGo clarified that these IndiGo’s compensatory travel vouchers are being offered in addition to the mandatory compensation prescribed under government regulations.

Under existing rules, passengers whose flights are cancelled within 24 hours of departure are entitled to IndiGo passenger compensation. Ranging from Rs.5,000 to Rs.10,000, depending on the block time of the flight. Block time refers to the duration an aircraft remains in operation from the moment it leaves the parking bay until it reaches its destination gate.

The airline reiterated that along with this statutory payout. Eligible customers will receive the IndiGo travel vouchers, which will remain valid for 12 months and can be used for future bookings. A separate Rs.10,000 travel voucher will be provided to travelers classified as “severely impacted.” Though IndiGo has not yet disclosed the criteria used to identify such passengers.

Operational Stability Restored

IndiGo stated that its operations have now returned to full stability. The airline is expected to operate more than 1,950 flights by the end of the day. With on-time performance climbing back above 92% after dropping to as low as 30% last week.

The airline also reported issuing over Rs.800 crore in refunds due to last week’s cancellations, marking one of the costliest disruptions in Indian aviation history.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has ordered a thorough investigation into the meltdown and instructed IndiGo to reduce flight operations by 10%. Resulting in the cancellation of nearly 200 flights ahead of the winter travel season.
