Under the corporate umbrella of the US-Bangla Group, US-Bangla Airlines is a privately held airline with its main office in Dhaka and based at Shahjalal International Airport. After the national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the airline has the greatest fleet size among private airlines operating in Bangladesh. The airline announced in July 2016 that it would gradually introduce its first three Boeing 737-800 aircraft starting in September of that same year and then introduce new international routes, such as those to Singapore and Dubai. The airline began operating flights to Guangzhou on April 29, 2019, making it the first airline from Bangladesh to fly to China. On March 31, 2019, the airline began operating flights from Dhaka to Chennai (via Chittagong), becoming the first Bangladeshi airline to do so.
Four ATR 72-600 planes were ordered by US-Bangla Airlines in February 2019 for usage on local flights. The first aircraft was delivered from Toulouse to Dhaka through El Dabaa and Muscat on March 22, 2019.
After Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla Airlines will become Bangladesh’s second-largest airline in terms of fleet size in September 2019.
From mid-2020, the airline was intended to begin operating direct flights from Sylhet to other Bangladeshi cities such as Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, and Jessore, as well as a route from Chittagong to Jessore.
At the beginning of 2021, the airline also made plans to add four more foreign routes to Malé, Colombo, and Abu Dhabi.
