Because of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Arab Emirates, the new dates are 1 October 2021 – 31 March 2022.

For 170 years, World Expos have served as a showcase for the most significant innovations that have shaped the world we live in today. Expo 2020 will carry on that tradition with the latest technology from around the globe.

The UAE will dazzle the world with Expo 2020 Dubai, which begins on October 1, 2021, in exactly 365 days. New photos released on Wednesday show the expo site near Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai South in an advanced state of readiness.

The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) General Assembly officially approved the one-year postponement of the global event in May of this year.

A postponement was requested by participating countries in order to overcome the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Member states agreed unanimously to Dubai's request to keep the name "Expo 2020 Dubai."

According to Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director-General of the Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, the team will begin to share new details and ideas about space, health and wellness, travel and connectivity, and other subjects "that sit at the heart of this Expo" in the coming weeks.

He continued, “Our leadership has spared no effort, guided us, and provided all resources to ensure that our World Expo will be a true expression of the UAE’s values.

Our World Expo has a mission to inspire hope. We hope that people will join us to achieve our objectives to bring the world together and put humanity and the planet on the right path towards dignity for all.

As we mark a year to go until we open, I want to thank all those who work so hard and so passionately to deliver an exceptional Expo. The journey has been worth it, and in 365 days we will share our excitement and our passion with millions.”

Expo 2020 Dubai, showcasing a World without borders, is the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region, and the first to be presented by an Arab nation.
