Met on arrival at Kozhikode International Airport and driven up into the Wayanad hills through the Thamarassery ghat — nine hairpin bends and a series of valley viewpoints on the climb. A full day in the hills. Begin at Pookode Lake, a freshwater lake ringed by evergreen forest, with pedal boats on the water. Continue to the Edakkal Caves at Ambukuthi Mala — a short but steep climb leads to two natural rock chambers carved with petroglyphs thought to be several thousand years old, and the view from the mouth of the cave runs across the whole district. Day 3

Morning at Kuruva Island, a protected river delta of small uninhabited islets in the Kabini, reached by bamboo raft across the shallows. Walk the marked forest trails among rare birds and orchids. Later, descend to Kozhikode and check in. Evening free to walk the beach promenade and the old Mittai Theruvu sweet street. Drive out to Thusharagiri, where three streams meet and fall in a series of cascades through rainforest — a short trek from the road brings you to the main fall.
