Planning Abu Dhabi? Your 3-Night Stay Could Include a Free UAE Visa

Planning a short UAE holiday from India could become a little easier this season. Abu Dhabi has introduced a new tourism initiative under which eligible Indian travellers can receive a UAE entry visa without paying an additional visa charge.

The programme, introduced by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), is linked to qualifying Abu Dhabi holiday bookings. Travellers need to stay for at least three consecutive nights in the emirate and meet the other programme requirements.

Available from August 1 to October 31, 2026, the pilot programme will initially support up to 20,000 visas. So, what does the offer actually include, and how can Indian travellers qualify?

    1. The Free Visa Offer at a GlanceThe Free Visa Offer at a Glance

The complimentary visa is not available with every flight or online hotel booking. Instead, it forms part of qualifying Abu Dhabi holidays booked through participating travel partners and online travel agencies.

Here are the main details :

    • Available to Indian passport holders travelling from India
    • Minimum stay of three consecutive nights in Abu Dhabi
    • A return flight from India is required
    • Booking must be through a participating travel provider
    • The UAE entry visa cost is covered under the programme
    • Eligible travel must fall within the programme period
    • The pilot initially covers up to 20,000 visas

Travellers should therefore confirm that their exact holiday package is eligible before making the final payment. The inclusion should be clearly mentioned by the participating travel provider.

    2. Who Can Qualify for the Complimentary Visa?Who Can Qualify for the Complimentary Visa?

The programme is specifically aimed at Indian passport holders beginning their journey in India. However, simply reserving three hotel nights in Abu Dhabi will not automatically make a traveller eligible.

The flight, hotel stay and booking channel all play an important role. To qualify, travellers should make sure their plans meet the required conditions.

    Check the details below :

    • Hold a valid Indian passport
    • Depart for the UAE from India
    • Have a return flight from India
    • Stay at an Abu Dhabi hotel for at least three consecutive nights
    • Use a participating travel partner or online travel agency

The complimentary benefit applies to the visa cost. Normal documentation, processing and immigration approval requirements still remain in place.

    3. Free Visa and Visa-Free Travel Are Not the SameFree Visa and Visa-Free Travel Are Not the Same

The wording of the offer can easily create confusion. Abu Dhabi is not introducing general visa-free UAE entry for all Indian passport holders through this initiative. This distinction is important because travellers may otherwise assume that normal UAE visa rules no longer apply.

Instead, eligible travellers still receive a UAE entry visa, but its cost is covered under the DCT Abu Dhabi programme. The visa application therefore still needs to be processed and approved according to applicable UAE immigration requirements.

For travellers, the easiest way to understand the offer is this: book a qualifying Abu Dhabi holiday and the covered UAE visa comes without an additional visa charge. It is a travel incentive rather than a change to the UAE’s overall visa policy.

    4. How Does the Programme Work?

Participating travel companies handle the visa process for eligible customers. They can process applications through a Destination Management Company appointed by DCT Abu Dhabi, in which case the visa expense is covered directly under the programme.

Travel companies may also continue using their existing destination management partners. Under that arrangement, DCT Abu Dhabi reimburses the eligible visa cost, reported at AED 285 per visa.

From a traveller’s point of view, there should be little need to worry about these arrangements. The important step is to check whether your chosen travel provider participates in the programme and whether the complimentary visa is included in your package.

    5. What Can You Do With Three Nights in Abu Dhabi? What Can You Do With Three Nights in Abu Dhabi?

Three nights may not sound like a long holiday, but Abu Dhabi works particularly well for a short international break. The city offers cultural attractions, beaches, entertainment and modern experiences without requiring travellers to move between several destinations.

A simple three-day plan could look like this :

    a) Day 1 – See Abu Dhabi’s Landmarks

Visit Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque before exploring the Corniche and surrounding city attractions. In the evening, enjoy a relaxed dinner or waterfront walk instead of packing more sightseeing into the day.

    b) Day 2 – Discover Culture and Architecture

Spend some time at Louvre Abu Dhabi or explore Saadiyat Island. Travellers interested in the country’s history and architecture can also include Qasr Al Watan in their itinerary.

    c) Day 3 – Pick the Experience That Suits You

Families and adventure lovers can spend the day around Yas Island, while couples may prefer a beach or resort experience. Shopping, cafés and a relaxed afternoon are also good choices for travellers who do not want a rushed itinerary.

Therefore, the required three-night stay can easily become a complete Abu Dhabi city break rather than simply a condition attached to the visa offer.

    6. Why Is Abu Dhabi Focusing on Indian Travellers? Why Is Abu Dhabi Focusing on Indian Travellers?

India continues to be an important international tourism market for Abu Dhabi. The initiative is designed to make choosing the destination easier for Indian visitors while also supporting stronger partnerships with travel companies serving the Indian market.

At the same time, the three-night requirement encourages visitors to spend meaningful time within Abu Dhabi. Travellers get an opportunity to discover the capital’s culture, attractions, entertainment and hospitality instead of using it only as a gateway to other parts of the UAE.

For travellers, the financial benefit is straightforward. Saving on the eligible visa cost leaves a little more room in the holiday budget for hotels, attractions, food or other experiences.

    Before Booking, Check the Details

Like most travel promotions, this programme comes with conditions. Checking them before making payment is better than assuming the complimentary visa will automatically apply later.

    Ask your travel provider :

    • Does this exact package qualify for the complimentary visa?
    • Are all three required hotel nights in Abu Dhabi?
    • Is my return flight from India included?
    • Are my travel dates eligible?
    • What documents are required for visa processing?
    • How early should I submit the visa application?
    • Is there any additional visa-related charge?

The programme currently runs until October 31, 2026 and has an initial allocation of 20,000 visas. Eligibility and availability should therefore be confirmed at the time of booking.

Could This Be the Right Time to Visit Abu Dhabi?

For Indian travellers already considering a UAE holiday, Abu Dhabi’s complimentary visa initiative adds an attractive benefit to a short city break. Three nights can provide enough time to enjoy famous landmarks, cultural experiences, entertainment and some well-earned relaxation.

However, the key is to choose a qualifying package rather than booking flights and hotels without checking the offer conditions. Confirm the visa inclusion, travel dates and eligibility with a participating travel provider, and a simple three-night Abu Dhabi holiday could become both easier to plan and better value.
