    Short stay Romania visas are normally issued for up to 90 days from date of issue.You will be permitted entry for the time period specified on the visa sticker, as long as you have not exceeded the maximum duration of 90 days of stay within the 180 day period prior to your arrival at the border crossing point.

    The earliest date to apply for a Romania visa is three months before the intended date of travel to the country. In order to allow for adequate time for visa processing, it is advisable that all visa applications are submitted at least twenty days prior to travelling.

    You are exempt from the Romanian visa requirement, for stays that of no more than 90 days during any 180-day period provide you:

    • Hold a two or multiple entry short-stay visa issued by a Schengen member state;
    • Hold a limited territorial validity visa issued by a Schengen member state;
    • Hold a short-stay visa issued by Bulgaria, Cyprus or Croatia;
    • Hold a long-stay visa issued by a Schengen member state
    • Hold a long-stay visa issued by Bulgaria, Cyprus or Croatia
    • You must also make sure that the above visasare valid, namely that the number of entries, right of stay and visa validity period have not been used up. Also, please note that your stay on the territory of Romania may not exceed the right of stay granted through the above-mentioned visas.

    • Short stay visa for business trips (C/A):

      This type of short-stay visa is issued to third-country nationals who wish to travel to Romania for economic or commercial purposes; for contracts or negotiations; in view of installing, making operational or checking the use and functioning of goods acquired through commercial contracts and through contracts of industrial cooperation; for the training of staff in view of the aforementioned actions, as well as for third-country nationals who are or are bound to become associates or shareholders within companies from Romania.
    • Long stay visa (D):

      The long-stay visa is granted to third-state nationals, upon request, for periods of 90 days, with one or multiple entries. The right of residence granted through the D-type visa can be extended by applying for such an extension of the right of residence on the national territory. The extension of the right of residence is materialised through a residence permit issued by the Inspectorate General for Immigration from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Romania. The applications for the extension of the temporary right of residence must be personally submitted by applicants, at least 30 days before the expiry of the right of stay granted through the visa, at the territorial bureaus of the Inspectorate General for Immigration from the area of residence.
    • Diplomatic & service visa:

      This type of long-stay visa allows third-state nationals to enter the territory of Romania, usually for a long-term stay, provided that they hold diplomatic or service passports and that they are bound to exercise an official function as members of the staff of foreign diplomatic missions and consular posts accredited in Romania.
    • Transit visa:

      This type of visa allows third-country nationals to transit the territory of Romania. This type of visa can be issued for one, two or multiple transits, provided that each transit period does not exceed 5 days.

    The Romania visa photo must meet the requirements described below. If not, the application will be delayed until you provide correct photos.

    • Photo must be 45 mm X 35 mm in size
    • The face should cover 80% of the photo
    • In colour White and black photo won’t be accepted
    • Taken against a plain white background
    • Taken within the last 3 months
    • Your head should face the camera directly.
    • It should not be tilted or turned, even slightly
    • The head must be centred in the image. You must look directly at the camera and show your full face
    • Do not wear sunglasses or tinted/coloured glasses. If you normally wear glasses, your eyes must be clearly visible in the photo The photo must be different from the passport photo.

  • add What is the relationship between the validity of a Romania Visa, number of entries and duration of stay?

    • Validity of a Romania Visa refers to the period within which the visa holder is allowed to enter Romania.
    • The number of entries refers to the number of times the visa holder is permitted to enter Romaniawithin the visa’s validity. One must carefully note what kind of entry is permitted. If the visa reads a single entry, its holder can only enter and leave Romania only once. Whereas, with multiple entries, he/she can enter or leave more than once within the visa validity.
    • Duration of stay refers to the longest period the visa holder is allowed to stay in Romania on each visit, and this is counted from the day following entry into Romania. When all the permitted entries are used up, the visa will no longer be valid. Even if there are unused entries, the visa will no longer be valid if the validity has already expired. In either case, the visa holder should apply for a new visa if another visit to Romania is planned.
    • The holder of a visa is eligible to enter Romania at any time prior to the expiry of its validity provided that permitted entries on the visa have not been used up; the holder’s planned duration of stay in Romania must not exceed the duration stated on the visa.
