Met on arrival at Cochin International Airport and driven south to Kumarakom, roughly 1 hour 45 minutes through coconut country. Check in at your lakeside resort. In the late afternoon, visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary on the banks of the Vembanad, best walked in the last hour of daylight. Evening at leisure by the lake. Day 2

| Alleppey

Morning at leisure, with an Ayurvedic massage session at the resort. Check out and board your private houseboat around midday. The boat casts off after lunch and cruises the wide Vembanad channels and narrower village canals through the afternoon — paddy fields sitting below water level behind their bunds, coir being twisted on the bank, kingfishers on the wires. Breakfast on board as the boat makes a short morning cruise, then disembark at Alleppey.
