The Zoo was developed in 1994 and occupies 35 hectares (86 acres) of secondary rainforest adjacent to the Singapore Zoo. Animals are separated from travelers with natural barriers, rather than caged, similar to the Singapore Zoo’s open concept. Instead of vertical prison-like cages, cattle grids have been laid all over the park to prevent hoofed animals from moving one habitat to another. These are grille-like metal sheets with gaps wide enough for animals’ legs to go through. Moats have been designed to look like streams and rivers to enable fishing cats and servals to be put on show in open areas, and hot wires have been designed to look like twigs to keep animals away from the boundaries of their enclosures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Tram Safari Experience<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Taking a tour on a guided tram is one of the best ways to begin your exploration. The ride is about 40 minutes which will take you to deep inside the area of most fascinating animals in the world. The cat\nattracts fish by lightly tapping the water’s surface with its paw, mimicking\ninsect movements. It then dives into the water to catch the fish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you continue your journey, keep your nose clear as you might get the smell of bearcats or binturongs from the nearby habitat. As you forward to the darker side of the Safari you will hear the sounds of Indian gharials which feed in the low water of swamp habitat. You will also get to see many other animals including the barking deer, small-clawed otters and greater and lesser mouse deer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Thumbuakar Fire Show <\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the highlights of the Safari is the fire spitting show where tribal dancers throw, eat and dance around flames. Enjoy a fiery welcome to the Night Safari with amazing fire-eating and fire-twirling stunts at the Thumbuakar Performance at the Entrance Courtyard.  These performers come on stage every 30 minutes, but it is worth the wait. The fire breathing show lasts for 10 minutes, but it is great to watch them breathe fire and dance. The performers call themselves “Thumbuakar tribe of Borneo”. They breathe fire, dance and even eat fire, meaning they extinguish the burning torches in their mouths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Get heated up with their energy, amazing skills of fire-twirling and rhythm. Their lovely dance movies will let you get into their groove. The stunning succession of demonstration and breathtaking stunts will give you an adrenaline rush.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Creatures Of The Night Show<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Another one of the most amazing events of Singapore Night Safari would be the 20-minute spectacular show of Creatures Of the Night. The first show starts at 7:30 pm. Hold your breath and head towards the amphitheater to enjoy a truly amazing animal show where some of the nocturnal animals like the Otter, Python, Mongoose, Raccoon, Hyena, Serval, Binturong (Bearcat) and Small-Toothed Civet display their talent. This show highlights the skills of nocturnal animals. You can laugh, admire the skills of animals and if you are lucky, you can even be picked as a “volunteer\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
