Breakfast at the Hotel. Today you will travel to Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city, which has always been the natural gateway to the West. Gothenburg is a city characterized by international style, local creativity and a natural, relaxed charm.
It has the pulse of a big city, cultural experiences, beautiful countryside and shopping, all within comfortable walking distance in the city centre. A good way to see the city is to take the Paddan boat tour (operation from April 9 to October 11), a 50-minute long trip around the canals and the harbour. This boat tour will show you the beauty of Gothenburg from a waterside perspective. Step aboard and see the old moat and the canals that date from the 17th century whilst learning about the history of the city’s construction and defense. The guided tour takes you through the many canals and beneath 20 bridges, including the famous bridge the “Cheese Slicer” (Osthyveln). This will be followed by the fascinating harbour with traditional shipyards, the fishing harbour, new and old housing, expanding commercial and academic sites and maritime museum.
