Today after breakfast let us step for an Indus Valley Monastery tour including Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, Hemis Gompa, Sindhu Ghat and Stok Palace Museum.
Shey Palace - Shey monastery and palace is located 15 kms from Leh. Built in the 16th Century AD the monastery preserves the Du-Khang with an almost 10 meter high copper statue of Lord Buddha.
Thiksey Monastery - Built in 1430 AD belongs to the Gelukpa Order of Buddhism. Lakhang Nyerma is a Temple devoted to Goddess Dorje Chenmo within the monastery. Apart from Lakhang Nyerma there are a few more shrines inside the monastery complex.
Hemis Gompa - Hemis is located around 45 kms to the south of Leh on the western banks of the Indus River. It is the biggest and very richly gifted monastery of Ladakh. The Monastery also has an imperative library of Tibetan books and a very notable and valuable collection of Thangkas, gold statues and Stupas embedded with precious stones.
Sindhu Ghat - Stunning riverbank, situated near the Shey village in Leh. It is known for its unique and scenic landscape, which entails of barren mountains, rocky terrains, sparse greenery.
Stok Palace Museum - The Palace of the expelled royal family in Stok is now transformed into a museum which displays the richest collection of jewellery, ornaments, Thangkas and much more. It displays the ceremonial dresses, crowns, and centuries-old pieces of jewellery, which imitate the lifestyle and history of royalty in the region.
After the sightseeing you will be driven back to the hotel.
